Redang Island, Malaysia

omg. after spending one whole morning blogging and uploading photos. i realised that with a click of a 'gallery' button, all the photos miraculously appeared, in just the right size. *knocks head on the wall
worse yet. i've just uploaded the same photos on flickr. the only consolation. pictures from wordpress take too long to load, and in the wrong order too. so here goes.

v hungry and messy eaters. and the burger wasn't even nice! haha but at least it was warm!
on the way to redang, at some stop-over

at some bus terminal. 2 buses and 1 ferry to reach redang. ...sian!!!

me with my barang barang. silver bag so .. i can spot it from afar! and .. mat.. for a dunno wad.. i din use it at all! the sand's too nice!!

aha! 'floating' mosque at terrenganu! (sat on the less picturesque side of the bus!)

the hardworking gardeners of terrenganu.. with their many trimmed bushes! bus was traveling at high speeds ok? hard to get a shot!

flashed on, dunno why. blue rice and sour veges. but not too bad. worst toilet ever at this roadside stall. puts everything in perspective

our lok-kok jetty. but nice porters, take care of ur luggage

shamimi 2. with crazy hair. (beats a stuffy boat ride (on the return)) fantastic tour mates cld like fall asleep on the rocky ride. i was too 'excited'

foolish and delusional me.... perhaps i thought this was OUR resort.................... -_-'' note: there are no pictures of our room..... it's.. too lok-kok. but no bed bugs at least! got cockroach though

so have u seen ecp water?? daddy, compare lah!!
thought the water was great n v clean. den u see those emission from the ferries.. er.. black black one....

our side of the beach. no dead corals. lucky!!

snorkeling trip 1
random person getting up the lok-kok boat (lok-kok is like my fave word since).

we cld bring a camera only cos someone bought a $50 ziplock bag. haha

daddy thinks that swimming at east coast is the same as snorkeling. how can??

uh, looks like oyster mushroom...

some pro diver dived down for this shot for us. nice!!

haha. see the hand-drawn islands?

eeek. dead washed-up corals. stepping on them is like walking on coals. baby shark spotted twice (not by me! i was struggling with breathing!)
our cheapo resort kinda has the best (but short) stretch of the beach.
we were speculating how the corals cld be grinded till such fine sand. (i was still 'leaking' sand aft i returned. my bed's full of sand too!) sand is so fine, unlike ecp sand lor.

from the movie. a must-visit place duh. it's a souvenir shop. NO PHOTOS ALLOWED INSIDE. we learnt the hard way!

on some bridge. regret not snorkeling here even for a while cos...

of the ikan belis (looks like). very cute huh!

bbq dinner on the first night. without u having to bbq by urself. i like the idea. quite nice la. food's good. but be early!

took this at night ok? long exposure time or sth.. freaky!

dragged ourselves out of bed to see a cloudy sun rise.

day 2. snorkeling trip 2. (the brain coral at the left... eeee..) corals here at very tall (or the water very shallow) u can stand on the rocks. hmm.. do dead corals turn into rocks?? kicked rock/coral here.
S is like the marine biologist. spotting tons of things! S and Y are like the expert bread feeders. D, the photographer. and me, the struggling to breathe person. and fish grabber. heh

impressive

funny yet. impressive

we saw nemo too!! but er, no pictures... some black fish here instead.

the brave ones. haha. i'm the one who suggested kopping bread from breakfast!! and 2 slices are not enough right?? thankfully we had .. more for the last trip! (nothing to be proud of actually la, feel so KS and aunty.. they sell bread for RM1 anw!) (er, we wun even spend RM2 for MJ per hr, think we will spend RM1on bread?? P.S. S had the most violent reaction to the RM2!! haha)
thanks mummy for the ziplock bags, came useful to keep the bread (less) soggy! soggy bread was grosssss..! aha! and Y perfected the art of feeding without food using ziplock bags!! i personally dun dare to feed them cos they will bite (cos S said they bite her thinking she's bread cos she's too fair (???) ) but i like how they come to u when u have bread. and u get to touch/grab them when they are busy eating (just a quick swipe only!! they are too fast!) and it's impossible to touch them even when u have no food for them (the fish are so cheap!)
we saw the photos that the resort people took. eek. some people held a fish and took pictures. how can? den we realised maybe the fish was dead. how gross and. a lack of respect for dead creatures.

so i wonder how to tell live corals from dead corals. hmm.. live corals sway in the water? n dead ones hurt when u kick them?

must be something alive

DEN THE CAMERA ZONKED OUT!! i feel guilty cos it kinda happened when i started taking!! hope it's on the road to recovery. but we din have a camera for the last trip!

there were 3 trips - the first was like orientation trip - boring corals and fish. second - fantastic corals (be very careful). third trip was at the marine center (with some 'singapore quality' sand and the cleanest toilets ever!) - many fishes but corals not as nice. (more fish equate more fish excretion - in pee and poop). (the places have names.. but i can't rmb them!)

'early' on the last day.
i seriously din write this. i wun bother. and my writing.. isn't this nice

another reason why u sld personalise ur sand-writing to prevent plagarism.

nope. i'm not  convinced. X said diving is cold! (n it's dangerous too! and anw, deeper down. so scary and monotone!)

only seahorse spotted in redang. ironically, we had water shortage ('pump spoilt'?) but this seahorse was still spurting out water. still, din see anyone bathing here

(random) boys. and sand-balls.

too shocked and nausea to take pictures. so suddenly.... we r at terrenganu for our day trip
chinatown-ish. famished and ate at some noodles/rice shop. cos no one cld function w/o food.

yah. we just hang out at THE STORE (S was doing A LOT of auntie shopping, but i'm sworn to secrecy.) and KFC (bridge bridge bridge and 'cheap' meals. i had meatball soup..) and MACS (bridge bridge bridge and cornetto mcflurry) and.. bridge bridge bridge. lucky me, really, for these bridge kakis!

lastly - 'why no pictures of u??' taadaaa.. i THINK.. that's me alright!

i miss the (2) days that the beach was just outside (kinda) my door and i cld just hop right in. and soak soak soak. and. sand scrubbbb..and snor---kel

my dad said he grew up like this. gg to the beach all the time. so lucky!!

my mom thinks it's easy to blog. until i took 10am-5pm to do THIS. maybe i'm just too slow! ok. it's gg to be a loooong time before the next entry anw!
